Our method
Micro Hair Pigmentation (or MHP) is a form of permanent makeup and is introduced into the skin in the same way. A dotted technique is used to simulate hair follicles in this way. Like PMU, MHP does not remain the same for years, because it reacts with changing skin and possible sun exposure. Moreover, the MHP never fully dissolves. It can run out or change color so it can be that you are no longer satisfied with it.

Free consultation
You are likely to have many questions when considering removing your Micro Hair Pigmentation (MHP). To answer all your questions correctly and completely, we offer you a free consultation. During this consultation we will assess your MHP, estimate the number of treatments and inform you about the correct pre- and aftercare. After the intake you can be treated immediately, but this is not mandatory, of course.
How does MHP removal work with the PicoWay?
The MHP removal treatment is performed using the PicoWay laser. The ink particles are absorbed by the laser beams of the PicoWay. This causes the ink particles to pulverize into small ink particles, so small that the body is able to dispose of these ink particles. The removal of these smaller ink particles is by the lymphatic system, on average the body takes 6-12 weeks to remove the ink particles from a treatment
How many treatments do I need?
The average number of treatment for removing MHP is between 2-5 treatments with the PicoWay. This number is only an average. Unfortunately, it is never possible to predict exactly how many treatments you need in advance. This is because there are several factors that play a role in the speed with which MHP fades. Examples of this are: the depth of the MHP, age of MHP, skin type and the amount of MHP. Because of all these variable factors, the number of treatments vary per person.
Be careful
Make sure that you are well informed about the various options and risks: unfortunately, there are many cheap or wrong lasers in circulation that remove so-called MHP, but mainly result in scars.

PicoWay, the best laser for MHP removal
The PicoWay laser is unsurpassed to date and has won the award for “best energy treatment of the year” at the Aesthetics Industry Awards in London last year. The PicoWay is therefore globally regarded as “The Golden Standard” for tattoo, permanent makeup and micro hair pigmentation removal.
7 reasons why PicoWay is the best laser in the Netherlands:
✓ Shortest pulse duration of all picolasers
✓ 3 wavelengths based on the picosecond technique
✓ Holographic fractionated after treatment
✓ FDA approved
✓ Suitable for all skin types and ink colors
✓ Scientifically proven results
✓ No heat development, this means no damage
Fast and safe
The most commonly used and safest method for tattooing, permanent makeup and micro hair pigmentation removal is through laser therapy. The PicoWay uses the very latest picosecond technology. A picosecond is one trillionth of a second and is therefore 100 times faster compared to the outdated nanosecond technique that the older lasers (such as the Q-switched ND-Yag and the Harmony laser) work with. Of all picolasers, the PicoWay also has the shortest pulse duration, making it the most effective and safe laser on the market.
The options & after treatment
The PicoWay has three different wavelengths, all of which work on the basis of the picosecond technique. This makes the PicoWay the only laser with this techniques. Other picolasers often work only partially on the basis of the picosecond technique and in addition all have a longer pulse duration compared to the PicoWay. All colors of ink can be treated due to the three different wavelengths. In addition, the PicoWay has a holographic fractionated handpiece, the PicoWay Resolve. This handpiece can be used to treat tattoos, permanent make-up or micro hair pigmentation, where scar tissue originated during setting, to improve the skin structure.

I would like to remove from my MHP, but what does this cost and what process should I go through?

When you consider to remove your micro hair pigmentation, you’ll probably have many questions. In addition, the most frequently asked questions are listed, but of course we are happy to answer all your questions during the free intake.
When Micro Hair Pigmentation (MHP) is applied, dye (pigment) is introduced into the skin. Our body is shocked by this unknown substance, but is unable to dispose of it because of the size of the ink particles. The skin must therefore ensure in another way that it is not damaged by the unknown substance. The skin does this by encapsulating the ink particles. In this way literally balls of ink arise that do no damage to the skin, are visible from the outside and will always remain.
The most used and safest method to remove a tattoo is through laser therapy. The laser beams are absorbed by the color pigments of a tattoo and / or pigmentation and as a result the large ink particles will be shatterd into smaller ink particles. These ink particles are so small that they can be drained through the body. How long it takes the body to remove the ink particles from 1 treatment can vary per person. On average, this process takes 8 weeks. The result of 1 treatment can therefore really only be determined after at least 8 weeks.
Unfortunately, how many treatments are needed to remove MHP cannot be predicted prior to the process. The speed at which MHP can be removed depends on many different factors. Examples of factors that influence the process include:
Color of the MHP
The color that is used plays an important role in Micro Hair Pigmentation removal. MHP pigments with dark undertones (such as black and gray) are generally easier to remove than MHP pigments with red undertones (brown). Red pigments can first start to oxidize during a treatment, causing the MHP to color darker. This dark color will then be blurred with the following treatments.
Depth of the MHP
The deeper the MHP is, the more treatments will be needed. If the MHP is shallow, it will be easier to remove.
Quantity of ink
The amount of ink is very important for the number of treatments. The more ink that is used during the setting of the MHP, the more treatments will be needed to remove the MHP.
Quality of the pigments
There are many different pigment types on the market. Each type of pigment has its own composition and reacts differently to the laser treatment.
The individual lymphatic system
The pigment particles that are pulverized during a laser treatment are discharged through the lymph system in the weeks following the treatment. With one person this process works faster than with the other.
Skin type
The lighter the skin, the easier it is to remove permanent makeup. The more pigment the skin contains, the more treatments it will need to be able to remove Micro Hair Pigmentation nicely and without scars. This has to do with the minimal presence of pigment in white skin, whereas it is strongly present in dark skin.
In addition to the above factors, there are a number of factors that influence the speed at which Micro Hair Pigmentation can be removed. These are: the presence of scar tissue, location of the MHP, age of the MHP and health.
On average 2-5 treatments are needed to remove MHP. We want to emphasize strongly that this number is only an average.
With the PicoWay we are able to completely remove the majority of the Micro Hair Pigmentation. In our clinic we often get MHP cases, such as eyebrows, which with other lasers (such as the Q-switched ND-Yag, Harmony laser and the PicoSure) could no longer achieve a result, but where we are still able to do the final haze too completely laser away. This is partly due to the combination of an ultra short pulse duration and the deep penetration of the laser.
With older lasers (such as the Q-switch ND-YAG, Alexandrite, Ruby, Medlite and Harmony laser), scarring was a common side effect. This is mainly because this lasers produces so much heat in the skin that the skin can be damaged to such an extent that scar tissue is created. You can therefore classify these older laser treatments as a thermal treatment.
The PicoWay laser works on the basis of a picosecond (as opposed to a nanosecond of the older lasers). Because the ink particles are now pulverized in such a short period of time, 100 times faster compared to the older lasers (one trillionth of a second), the skin no longer has a chance to warm up. You can therefore classify the treatment of the PicoWay as an acoustic treatment. There is now so much less heat in the skin, so that the skin is no longer damaged. As a result, scar tissue and / or pigment shifts no longer occur and we can safely treat all skin types with the PicoWay, even the darkest skin.
Bear in mind that scar tissue may sometimes have already developed during tattooing. You can usually see / feel this. You will feel a thickening or you will see whiter parts in your permanent makeup. We will assess whether there is scar tissue in your permanent makeup during the intake. If there is scar tissue in your permanent makeup, we can additionally treat permanent makeup with the PicoWay Resolve. During this post-treatment, small holes are made in the skin by means of a fractionated laser that improves the skin structure.
During a treatment, large ink particles that cannot be removed through the body are shatterd into small ink particles. After a laser treatment, the body is able to dispose of the crushed small ink particles. This means when you have just received treatment, the same amount of ink is still present in the skin. However, the ink is now so small that the body itself is able to dispose of it in the weeks following the treatment.
The removal is done through the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system works relatively slowly, which means that an average of 6-8 weeks must be kept between treatment. However, this treatment interval can vary per person due to the individual’s immune system.
The PicoWay is the first laser that can be applied to any skin type. With the combination of our laser and the expertise of our laser specialists and skin therapists you don’t have to be afraid of permanent pigment changes or scars.
However, removing MHP in dark skin will require more treatments than in white skin. This can be explained by the fact that dark skin contains more natural pigments and treatment will have to be lower.
We reserve 45 minutes for the first treatment for the removal of permanent make-up, this is the intake interview. During the intake interview we will inform you about all relevant information regarding pre- and aftercare, we will make an estimate for the number of treatments and we will prepare a proper treatment plan with you.
For all subsequent treatments, reserve at 30 minutes for the removal of permanent make-up. We will assess the result with each treatment. The treatment with the laser itself only takes a few minutes.
